Lunch and Social Club
Our Lunch Club runs every Monday and Thursday at Weston Rise Community Hall, Pentonville Road.
This is a friendly gathering where clients enjoy a freshly cooked two-course hot meal prepared by volunteers, followed by social activities such as bingo and occasional live entertainment. For clients with limited mobility, we provide transport using our wheelchair-accessible minibus.
This is more than a meal. It’s a place to belong.
One-to-One Befriending
This service supports some of our most housebound clients. Volunteers visit clients regularly in their own homes, offering companionship and practical help based on individual needs. This may include help with shopping, accompaniment to local amenities
The focus is simple: trusted, consistent human contact.
Telephone Befriending
For clients who are unable to leave home or are at high risk of isolation, our Telephone Club provides weekly calls from a volunteer.
Clients can also contact our office if they need support. This service offers reassurance not only to clients, but also to family members who may live far away.
Assisted Shopping Trips
We run regular assisted shopping trips to local supermarkets and shopping centres. This has a practical benefit but is also an enjoyable trip out Using our wheelchair-accessible minibus, we provide a door-to-door service for up to 8or 9 clients per trip. Volunteers accompany the group and offer one-to-one support where needed.
Accessible Transport
Our wheelchair-accessible minibus ensures that disability or limited mobility does not prevent clients from accessing our services.
The vehicle is used for:
Lunch Club transport
Art Club
Shopping trips
Occasional outings, including seaside trips Mobility should never be a barrier to participation.
Art Club
The Art Club meets every four to five weeks at the offices of Ashurst in Spitalfields. The highly popular sessions are delivered by Create Arts and give clients the opportunity to explore creativity in a relaxed, supportive environment.
Funding
We rely almost entirely on external funding to deliver our services. This means we are in constant competition for grants and charitable funding.
We are a volunteer-led organisation with only one part-time paid staff member. Despite this, our impact is significant.
As Voluntary Action Islington has said:
“I can’t think of any other organisation in Islington which contributes so much with such little financial support.”
